CARS AND COFFEE: The Porsche Way

Being the Orange County resident I am, I typically like to find every excuse I possibly can to avoid going to Los Angeles. Traffic, nasty air, immense potholes, all enough to make my skin crawl. However, when the Porsche Experience center in Carson announces they're going to have a morning show (Morning shift as they call it), with some classic racecars present, I knew I had to be there.

The show itself started at 9 but I rolled in roughly an hour late, hoping for better photos (which I thankfully got). Boom, 73' Carrera RS. Wham, 997 GT2. Kablooey, Oak green metallic 991 GT2RS. It was refreshing to see a solid collection of highly regarded Porsche road cars packed into the parking lot neighboring the headquarters of Porsche Motorsport North America, which brought out a few heavy hitters like a 991.1 RSR race car. However, there is no denying that I was there for the few classic race cars they had lined up in the middle of the lot. Does a particular Sebring 12 hour winning Porsche 962C peak your interest? How about a Dick Barbour 935? It was awesome to see some new-to-me racecars in South Los Angeles, however it is fair to say that I would only return if these cars also did the same.
